Loris Cecchini
Born in Milan, Italy, 1969. Lives and works in Milan.
In the work of the artist photography, drawing, sculpture, sound, electromagnetic waves and installation combine to form a united poetics, where biological metaphor and motion represent core philosophies behind his investigation and fundamental basis in his projects, the cardinal element of which is transfiguration. The artist simultaneously uses space as a subject and material, establishing at the same time new definitions of sculpture. In a wide range of works Cecchini joins together his steel modules to form a semblance of climbing plants, corals or crystals structures. His work has been presented in several prestigious venues such as Palais de Tokyo in Paris, Musée d’Art Moderne of Saint-Etienne Métropole, MoMA PS1 in New York, Shanghai Duolun MoMA of Shanghai, Casal Solleric Museum in Palma de Mallorca, Kunstverein of Heidelberg, Teseco Foundation in Pisa, Quarter in Florence. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions such as: Venice Biennale, Shanghai Biennale, Quadriennale of Rome, Taiwan Biennale in Taipei, Valencia Biennale. He realized many site-specific installations, as those for the permanent Gori’s collection in Villa Celle (2012), for the Courtyard in Palazzo Strozzi (Florence) and for the Boghossian Foundation in Brussels (2013).
