Sislej Xhafa
Born in Pejë, Kosovo, 1970. Lives and works in New York, USA. Sislej Xhafa is known for his artistic investigation into the social, economic and political realities associated with the various complexities of modern society. Sislej Xhafa presented himself at the Clandestine Pavilion of the 47th Venice Biennale, questioning the legal status of his country of origin, Kosovo. He has been the subject of several solo exhibitions at Galeria BWA Sokol, Nowy Sacz (2016), MAXXI, Rome (2016), Center 42°, Cetinje, Montenegro (2012), MADRE Donna Regina Contemporary Art Museum, Naples (2011), GAMeC Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery, Bergamo (2007), La Caixa Foundation, Barcelona (2005), Deitch Projects, New York (2002), Kunsthalle Bern, Bern (2001), Olivetti Foundation, Rome (2000).
